One more thought, the utility companys decision to use wood versus metal poles may well be based on the available supply, initial cost, long term cost, longevity and durability, ESPECIALY REGARDING THE EXTREME TALL POLES of which wood MAY NOT EVEN BE READILY AVAILABLE ???
Based on my education and experience in the power distribution industry, the utility has more expertise and knowledge than any of us here so will likely continue to do what THEY determine best and NOT care much about what anyone here may think lol In different electrical fields where I have been involved, when it comes to high voltage, transmission and linemen safety THOSE PEOPLE ARE THE BEST INFORMED AND SAFETY CONSCIOUS out there.... I couldnt believe all the training and step by step safety procedures used in the HV transmission industry. When they choose to use wood versus metal you can bet a ton of study and research went into the decision
