Ram brand started in 2010, so a 2009 and below are a Dodge Ram, 2010 and up is just Ram. Call it what you want though, it's the same stuff, they just decided to drop the "Dodge" name for marketing reasons.
There is DEF which is part of the diesel exhaust catalyst (SCR), and DPF. Both are exhaust emissions but do different things with different hardware and both are in the exhaust piping. Your truck has a DPF but not a SCR/DEF system.
