To add on the amp meter your connection is correct, as to address what JMOR has added the terminal that you have connected to the alternator also needs to have any other powered items also connected there like ignition, lights and cab accessories if so equipped. And sorry if this tractor was only available as a diesel. If you make the connection as I suggested and the needle reaction is opposite of what it should be, as in you turn on the lights and it shows charge all the wires on the terminals need to be swapped to opposite sides. If you are calling out the wrong terminals on the wrong gauges maybe less Jim Beam is in order. And please that is posted for humor purposes only.
