For relatively short term but sudden high current loads such as engine starting, that's what a conventional STARTING battery was designed for..
For lower current longer term deeper discharges (say a boats trolling motor or RV use) that's what a DEEP CYCLE battery was designed for..
Often and typically a DEEP CYCLE is rated/labeled in Amp Hours while a STARTING BATTERY is rated/labeled in Cold Cranking Amps CCA
That being said and even if sure either would still work even in the wrong application
I RECOMMEND A STARTING BATTERY
You didnt ask, I respect YOUR decision, so I purposely didn't get into the use of one or two batteries and the advantages etc..
See what others may use but this is ONLY my recommendation based on experience and what I have learned about how different batteries were designed TO EACH THEIR OWN OPINION THIS IS MINE, LETS SEE IF OTHERS DIFFER or agree with me ???
