Hopefully you have checked to see if there is actually some lube in it or is full. If it is driveable I would recommend getting it good and warmed up before draining. Likely what has happened is that moisture condensated on the shift rails etc. while it was setting and rusted them up. If I was doing it I would pull the shifter and fill the trans through there to get more lube on the shifter mechanisms. But really thinking about it if the trans is at the proper level at 40 - 60 mph there should be plenty of lube slinging around in there to lube up everything.
