Plow days can be fun and I have attended and plowed some. My first plow day was with a club in SE Michigan. I was a total stranger but I got my '51 8N and 2-14 Dearborn Economy plow off the trailer and proceded to follow the leaders. I was pegged as a city boy trying to play with the real guys. The field had layed fallow for several years and was freshly mowed. It was a hardpan! Some of the trailer plows would float up out, skim the surface for 8 to 10 feet and then dig back in. That was rather messy and would not disc down later. I took my 8N and went to all of the spots and cleaned them up. That started getting me some attention. As the lands narrowed down, no one wanted to plow the dead furrows. Ah, one of my favorite tasks with the 8N. When we were done, people could see that I knew what I was doing. During the pot luck lunch, I was asked if I would like to join their club, and I did. After a number of years working the shows and becoming a board member, I was elected as the VP. More and more responsibility took it's toll and I finally resigned and dropped my membership. The fun was gone. I still have my toys but I enjoy and participate in the flea markets at shows around Michigan. Hoping that the Gretch opens the state very soon.
