The alloy steel foundry I worked for made crushing elements for rock crushers. HUGE things, close to the heaviest casting we poured, right around 40,000# gross. Not sure what alloy we poured them out of. All the parts I chased out of the foundry were for automobile and/or scrap metal processing equipment, most were a 30-carbon chrome-nickle-moly and some had a bit of boron in the mix. We had 11 heat treating furnaces all in a row the size of 2-stall garages. EVERYTHING we made spent several nights in those furnaces.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
