Shelf life varies depending on how well sealed the container is, and the temperature.
Evaporation is what spoils it. Sealed containers might last indefinitely.
Fuel injection systems are sealed. My mom's old car was stored with E10 in the system for at least 5 years, it fired up like it had been started the day before!
Carburetor systems are not sealed. They can gum up a carb in a year if left with fuel in the bowl and exposed to heat. The tank will last a while longer, again depends on the volume, evaporation, maybe a couple years, maybe more.
Additives are a preventive, they do no good after the fact as for refreshing bad gas. Some may clean up a gummed carb, but it's a gamble.
There is also the rubber hose and diaphragm deterioration factor.
