For several months there was a panhandler on the corner across from the gas station near me. One day I was in the station and the clerk commented that if he was getting $5 from each person, he was raking in several thousand a day. If two people per minute gave him a five, that would be $600 an hour. Ten hours, six grand, and you can bet he didn't pay a dime in taxes. There was a lady who hung out in front of the Dillons store with a dog. She looked seriously homeless. Late one night as I was getting gas, she was walking down the street, so I observed. She had a near new truck parked in a strip mall about a block from where she begged. Dillons ran her off after her dog bit some kids.
