Never use any plug with the incorrect reach in an engine. Too long, and they can hit moving parts, and become coated with deposits in the exposed threads. these deposits are hard and destroy the threads in the head when trying to remove them. Or worse yet, break off in the head and require removing the head for repair. Too short, and the female therads get the deposits, also lowering compression. Then the correct plug cannot be installed due to the deposits. I ran into this 2 weeks ago on a mower that had short plugs installed in a long reach aluminum engine. It required thread chasing and cleaning of the cylinder to get it operational. Jim
