So your hay is around ten cents per lb. around me hay is priced out more often by the pound, because round bales can vary greatly in weight, because of size and density. Some bales will weight 600 lb while other weight can be 1000 lb. Hay local to me runs from 4-8 cents per pound depending on content and quality. Small square bales are just priced ridiculous $6-$8 per bale, and most bales wont weigh 50lb.So a 50 lb bale at $8 is 16 per lb. so that is $320 per ton for small square hay
