I would generally agree with you. They have the capability to do a lot of things well. They've become very adept at reverse engineering a lot of stuff and building good copies. What they're mabey not so good at yet it developing new technology or things that they can't get their hands on to copy. Read a few weeks ago how their jet engines are still basically junk in terms of service life... and that is one area where obviously the us gov or Northrop doesn't just hand that over to them... so they have a ways to go yet. But they will get there. What is impressive to watch is just how industrious they are, how hard they work and how they reuse, repurpose, salvage etc so much stuff that we just throw away. It's not hard to see why they have moved so far ahead, so quickly and here we are throwing it all away. The problem we suffer here is that the consumer demands cheap and they get cheap and our society is addicted to that way of life.
