Nobody said you couldn't replace the o-ring, but you're not going to replace it out of one of those cheap auto parts store o-ring assortments. Those are for... well... I don't know what they're for because I've never had one of them work for anything... Let's say they're for playing games of Tiny Ring Toss, or for your kids to use as pretend jewelry.
A farm and fleet type store might have the o-rings on the rack if they have a good assortment of hydraulic parts. Otherwise your best bet is a Deere dealer.
