I know how you feel, don't beat yourself up over it, everybody on this forum has done something like what you did, most just got away with it. Also keep in mind that the day before the 4th was the last day some people had all 10 fingers. I imagine your ring finger will recover nicely. You are SO FORTUNATE that your wife was able to assist.
