Sorry, but this is long. Getting ready to break my 2240 in half. I ordered the online maintenance manual, parts manual, and operators manual. When I bought it, it was listed as a 1984 2240 with mfwd. The manuals say that they stopped making 2240's in 1981. It also states that my tractor serial number is from an 81. The manuals only show 2wd, and no indication of mfwd. In the serial number sequence, it has a "Q" indicating mfwd. I spent weeks going from the local dealer up to Deere with no resolve. Talking with yesterday's tractor on line, they couldn't locate a manual for an 84 with mfwd. They too said the serial number was an 81 2wd. They sent me to the forum. If I go on tractor house and look up 1984 2240 with mfwd, the show about a half dozen tractors just like mine with the 4wd and larger front tires. Any idea what kind of albatross I have, and where I can get the manuals for it. I want to know what I am going to encounter before I break it open. Thanks for reading this book.

Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
