I doubt they are all the same George. Different shaft sizes, different expectations of hp they will have to handle. It's basically a magnet that engages the clutch. All I know is they want an arm and at least part of one leg for some of them.
I had the exact opposite problem you are having. I was scared of my kids using my ancient Jacobsen rider, so I bought a brand spankin' new Craftsman (foolishly thinking that the 2000-ish models were like the old ones in the 70's. Everytime you backed up the clutch shut off, so some idiot wouldn't run over someone I guess. Anyway, about the 137th time I hit the reverse the whole clutch assy dismounted itself from the crank and went zipping across my lawn, across the road and about 75 yards out into a field! Almost $300 later, I had a new one and loc-tited that sucker on there!
