It's not critical what oil you use as long as you use oil.
Originally these tractors would have come with heavy gear oil, but that caused the TA to not shift properly, so IH quickly came up with using common SAE10 engine oil with a special torque amplifier additive. This later evolved into "Hytran."
Since yours does not have a TA, you can either use heavy gear oil or Hytran.
On an old tractor such as this there is absolutely no need to buy genuine Hytran from the dealer. There is nothing exotic in the transmission that would require the latest additives. Just use any universal hydraulic/transmission tractor fluid that says it is compatible with CaseIH Hytran.
