I have never had any of my SC's hooked to anything that turns dirt let alone working beside a B Deere or Farmall H so I have nothing to compare it to in that category. It's true it does not have much power and that slingshot seat is a little tough on rough ground for a person with a tender back. I grew up on two bangers so I am comfortable with a hand clutch and can do some comparison in that category. The Case clutch is smoother and more predictable compared to the Deere hand clutch. The Case clutch is single wet disk where the Deere clutch is dry multiple disk so there is where the difference shows up. That gawdawful left hand clutch on the DC's and later SC's is dangerous to me because I am accustomed to a right hand clutch and I am right handed to boot. I bought a new 1070 in the fall of 1974 and had it for four seasons. It was trouble, was in the dealer's shop as much as it was in my shed but I always blamed it on this one tractor being a lemon from the get go. The 1070 was a handy comfortable tractor and economical to run under light loads. Not as economical under heavy loads.

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
