Second cutting hay earlier this week. This is a small field west of the barn and house. Planted it two years ago. Tractor is a Super MTA with a 115 mid mount sickle that I use for emergencies and to clean up edges. IH 990 haybine held together with spit and good intentions, but it does an excellent job for a unit that broke in half several years ago and had to be blocked and welded back together.
Same tractor with a Ford 12' field cultivator and a Remlinger spike harrow prepping a field for more grass hay. This tractor has done hay alone for the 20 years I have owned it. It had a nice IH growl from the engine as it finished this field. Almost sounded like it was enjoying itself. Another small field on the opposite side of the barn/house. About 10 acres. Chiseled with the Glencoe. Could have gone straight to the cultivator but ran the 18' disk around it first to knock down the ridges and make it easier on me and the old tractor. The big dog in the process was the 1586 IH. Pretty here now that the rain has slacked off.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
