I had an 8240 SLE. At around 5000 hours it suddenly would not move. Using the onboard diagnostics following the IT manual myself revealed a leaking transmission clutch pack seal. I took it to the dealer and their computer verified the seal problem. It needed a new transmission for $5,400. The following year the PTO would not engage. it turned out to be a small tube that the hydraulic fluid pressurizes to pressurize the clutch pack. The FWA would engage by itself. which turned out to be an electric solenoid valve on the right side of the transmission. At this point I sold it with full disclosure. Immediately after replacing the FWA valve the new owner had to replace the electric hydraulic dump valve on the transmission. Neither of these solenoid valves were available but he was able to get them used. I had 9 good years out of it before these problems, and after replacing the two valves the next owner had three good years before he sold it. Prior to the hydraulic problem with the PTO it would quit due to a relay over heating. This would happen a little while after the AC would quit.
