I haven't had to buy a six volt battery lately but don't anticipate any problems getting one locally. I've never had a problem running 12 volts through a six volt starter on the converted units either. The Cockshutt 50 has a bad ring gear but that was already causing problems before we converted it to 12 volts. Starter works fine (and fast) once it engages.
