Its interesting to read the hay reports from around the country. The reports are either too wet or too dry. The brome alfalfa mix on my tiny three acre hay field put out two thirds of a crop the first cutting because we were so dry. Second cutting was worth cutting but not by much. Our humidity was very dry for Iowa and it could be baled the next day after it was cut. Right after the second cutting we got a nice gentle rain, then a other and another till finally we had a shy six inches of rain over a two and a half week period. Because of the rain the third cutting was great. It was going down and tangling by the time I cut it. We were humid too and had rain on it twice but my son finally got it baled in good shape. The fourth cutting should be a good one.
