Not knowing exactly what style of fridge you are asking about but will take a stab at diagnosing you problem. I doubt that its anything but a self defrosting unit. Is the fan in freezer section running? If not and the compressor in the lower back is then the evaporator fan motor is bad-just replace that. If the fan is running but the compressor isn't then yes the relay on the compressor is probably bad. That is an issue that Maytag had on certain units. Especially side by side refrigerators. If both the evaporator fan motor and compressor are running but you aren't getting any cooling then yes the unit is out of refrigerant and it really isn't worth fixing. If it is a unit with the freezer on the bottom then it is probably a dual evaporator unit and the evaporator in the fridge section needs to be replaced. That also is a known problem with Maytag units. The cost would be rather expensive. This coming from an old retired certified service tech. Tom in Mn
