I had a 510 Massey combine which I scrapped . I salvaged the 327 industrial (chevy) engine , the jack shaft that has the machine clutch and vary speed drive , the vary speed pulley on the gearbox and threshing cylinder . I cut the rasp bars and everything to the bare shaft and mounted a flat pulley to the shaft . I reassembled everything on a channel iron frame and this is what I power my sawmill with . I left the original governor on the engine to maintain a controlled speed . I have in the past used a Moline U , a 400 International and a R Moline stationary motor but this new power plant has a lot more horsepower and I am able to maintain the right R P M at the blade . At idle it runs about 1000 RPM and run speed about 1800 rpm I adjusted the RPM at the blade with the variable speed drive as you would for threshing a crop. On a 45 John Deere combine the engine can be taken off as a unit, engine radiator gas tank all stay together and would make a nice power unit . Both of these power units are easy to work on and parts can be gotten at parts stores.
