Tilled the ground. Put potatoes on top of soil. covered with two bales of straw. small potato patch. When potatoes were dead, Removed straw and there were potatoes, some half way in ground a few deeper. Better harvest than last year, less work too.
Ground was easy to dig, not compacted. Never watered, never weeded.
I have 20 bales of straw for next year. Used 3 bales on strawberries after removing runners and making 3 long rows of strawberries. Going to use straw on tomatoes next year instead. Till once, plant, straw, and pull dead plants at end of harvest.
