Great post George. And to keep it tractor-related, some folks hang a window a/c from their tractor cab. *lol*
Only one time did one of our window units ever get that bad, but not from black mold. The skeeters were SO bad that year that they went into the a/c (brand new unit!), got chopped by the fan, and that blood attracted more skeeters. Before long, we had a putrid, rotting corpse in the a/c, not to mention the hundreds of skeeters that found their way THROUGH the darned thing!
I called Electrolux (Frigidaire a/c) and complained, and they reimbursed the cost. Never bought another Electrolux product since! But have discovered that skeeters can get through ALL of the newer a/c units these days. Not having charge ports means they are meant to be throw-away units. Sad. But, this small house just doesn't need more than one or two 5,000 BTU units. This year we needed 2. Hottest and driest Summer on record for here. ....And now we're at a balmy 42 degrees. *lol*
