BAck in the early 70's a friend had a Ford Pinto. They just came out with aluminum heads. Under warranty ford put 2 head gaskets on it. It took a 6 pack of Bud for the two of us to remove the head and put a new gasket on it. Back then I never heard of silicon gasket. It was clear silicone. HE put a very thin coat of silicone on both sides of the head gasket. We both drank a beer while silicone dried a little. One beer each to remove head, one for silicone to dry and one to replace head. Not bad for two college boys. He never had a problem with head gasket. Ford original gasket leaked and 2 other attempts to replace it failed too.. I have used copper spray. I wish I had used silicone. Had a tiny pitted area on Farmall block and the spray copper didn't fill in the tiny pit. Leaks a few drops of oil.
