I will post my dads answers first and then mine.
For JFK my dad remembers being in the house with his mom with KDPQ portland, Oregon station on the radio and having the normal radio broadcast interrupted by the words, the president has been shot Later that day when when dads dad had come home from custom farming 10 Mile's away with Case L, he reported he had been told by a lady who walked across the dusty field to tell him.
As for 9/11, dad saw on tv as it happened and had a bad feeling right away.
I am too young for the JFK question as I was in high school senior year when 9/11. I picked up a cousin each morning as we both went to same school. My dad had called the cousin before I got there to tell us to turn on the tv. We knew something was wrong but didnt want to get in trouble for late to school. When we arrived at high school, the principle was standing in driveway and met each car one by one to say school closed, go home
