I actually worked on the subwoofer project for that car it had a lot o flaws. poorly planned and implemented were a couple major items. wasn't at all practical as others mentioned. they wasted $150,000 just in the subwoofer box (plastic molded housing) let alone all the other items that were unique to the blackwood. the bed was basically a BIG trunk for a 4 passenger car. i think the price tag was pretty steep for 2002 if i recall correctly. got to ride in an early build 'mule version.
throwing $ away like that is one reason why cars are so crazy expensive. they really need to go an extra couple model years to amortize the tooling costs better.
