I agree. I think Im missing something as well. Growing up the neighborhood helped each other out on planting, harvest, chores, milking, and building projects. People dont have more or less time now. Thats bunk! There are 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week. Thats it. The sense of community and comradery are different then they used to be. People are lazy! People make good money! Dont kid yourself about getting paid. Work a show and see how many side by sides are drug in behind big dollar campers. Its crazy. The private school in the town of Junkshow has had a food stand at the show for the last 40 years. They did a good job, probably made good money, and never complained. This year they stepped away from their stand because they couldnt find help. A week after the show the sign in front of the school says buy a raffle ticket. $20,000 grand prize. The point is they see it easier to throw money at it then work a food stand and get dirty. Probably had golf, a birthday, grocery shopping and a football game to watch vs working a shoddy food stand and a stinky steam show and put up with the public. Maybe Im just bitter because this is my 24th day of volunteering for 2 different shows in the last 6 weeks and after seeing how 1/10 of the public appreciates the effort I might be a bit passionate about this topic because its fresh in my mind. Dont get me wrong. Theres 9/10 of the public that appreciate and enjoy what we put forth. We just dont hear them like the idiots.
I shouldnt complain. Shows are my hobby, on my terms, by my schedule. The question was asked and today Im climbing on the soap box!

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
