I have hauled a lot of stuff since 1963 on tires and track plus some really big loads up into the super load cat. i have seen oil field D 6 and D7 dozers get laid over on Float trailers and stay with the trailer being held with four 3/8ths chains and binder or as called in the patch BOOMERS and set back up on there wheels by two dozers with winches and never move . I personally have moved dozers with NO chains between well sites And the only thing holding it on the trailer was the winch line to a loop in the neck and the 1/2 inch L iron welded to the outter top rail of the trailer keep the tracks from sliding off the edge , BUT we were only moving a couple miles at best between frac jobs and i had to the the first on location and the last off , Back in just far enough to get the trailer off the road drop the dozer move the semi and start dragging the frac team back in and placing the trucks around the well head . When the got the hole fraced start dragging them back out dress the lease road load up and on to the next one just as fast as you could . BUT while hauling the big ugly stuff over the road i did have several chains break once almost loosen a brand new Gradeal just 45 miles from the plant during a panic stop with the Gradeal coming half way off the trailer and it was being held down with * yes EIGHT 3/8th G 70's The one chain chaing from right to left and the hold back one broke and the one fro left to right held and drug the machine to the right with only the left ft tire only staying on the trailer by 1/4 of it's width and i was going SLOW when this happened as i was coming up on a vary tight 90 degree turn to the left when some goofy freight box come flying around the turn and into my lane . That 49000 lb machine popped those two chains like twine . Now ya want and EDUCATION on how to haul a Skid Steer when you think you know what your doing then just go haul a load of NEW Cat Skid Steers out of the plant in N.C for KEEN trucking. transport/ What ever . Son you will get a fine lesson . So All you EXPERTS tell me how many chains and BINDER do you need and what size ?????? , How many chains and Binders do you need to haul a NEW Cat loader that lest just use 42000Lbs and HOW are you Suppose to tie it down . Yep i see it here every day with lawn services , small time excavators John Q public with NO load securement . Three weeks ago The rail road learned and important lesson as about a mile from my house the lost a Brand NEW plastic still on the seat Cat Back hoe when the truck driver made the turn off the bypass on to my road/ street and it came off the trailer and ROLLED three times tearing up a bunch of black top and dirt . It is now setting down the street by the tracks what is left of it . The ROPS is all twisted up the loader is bent up the back hoe is busted half way off the main casting on the rear the left axle housing is busted off But the plastic is still on the seat..
