Don't know what a local hardwood sawmill sell their scrap for. They chip up all slab scrap and sawdust and send it to a place that makes pellets. Seems a solution to any sawmill's problem. I knew a man when I was a kid that chipped his scrap and sawdust to power boiler he used to heat his factory and dry lumber in a kiln. HE had a blower system to automatically send sawdust to boiler fire box.
Sawdust is a good energy source. They even considered sawdust to be green energy. I think we will be hearing more about it.
I wonder if it would be profitable for a logging company to chip up the branches for pellets?..
