ford 9n starting trouble

I just recently bought my 9n. I've used it several times, hovever, after using it last when I went to start it the next day I got no response when I pushed down on the stater botton. I tried jumping it by-passing the starter with no success.
The tractor would turn over yet not start. It acted like it had no spark. Unfortunaly I hadn't the time to check for spark. Note it is very cold here and my tractor is covered only by a tarp.
