Like already said just bleed the filters. I have used ether to keep them running for a minute by just sniffing it as the engine starts to die then it picks up the ether again it will probably pick up the fuel in one or 2 sessions of that. when you get to the fuel gage shor the live wire to ground while watching the gage if it moves back and forth the gage is good. Then with an OHM meter I move the sender while watching the meter again if the meter needle moves the sender is good now you will have to find the bad ground location. As the live wire moved the gage earlier so that part is good.
