I guess the worst starter I eve saw was on s early 2000 something, a Ford product, performance car, maybe a Cougar?, been a while.
Went and looked, it was broke down at someones house, ritzy neighborhood that would not have liked to see me changing a starter in their driveway.
I ended up passing on the job. The starter was up top, but buried beneath many layers of intake plenums, wiring, coolant hoses, everything imaginable.
I was also suspecting the engine was locked, starter would just clunk and squeal. Last thing I wanted was to get in and find it needed more than a starter!
And then there are the inboard marine engines! Horror stories too graphic for this forum! LOL
