JK-NY suggested we do a series on our Case it does some attention so this seems like a good time to do it. This is a 1965 J I Case 830 Comfort King. It sort of a family tractor, a cousin to me bought it new to be a plow tractor. We are the 3rd owners and have had it for around 10 years now. Gas engine. Standard Hi / Low ( not a Case-O- Matic ), factory PTO delete. Aftermarket 3 point hitch. When I bought it I also bought the loader from a friend. It is a Kelly brand loader he had on a John Deere 3020 ( thats why its green). This tractor has been very reliable, other than gas, oil, grease, and some air it the tires I havent had to do much to it. It does have a small power steering leak but not bad enough to make me want to tear into it.
The tractor has developed a hard start situation. Thats why I figured now would be a good time to do a hopefully short series on it. I do have the owners manual for it but I do not have a shop manual so Im hoping you guys can help with our questions. I asked son if he was going to turn wrenchs on this one and he said I dont know probably! He told me hes interested in a lot of things not just tractors! I guess well see if he makes an appearance. In part 2 I think Ill look it over and see what I think it needs. Im sure Ill have questions so thank you for your comments, tips, and help. To be continued.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
