I bought an antique tractor, circa 1938, this past spring that was set up for an 8 volt battery. I took the 8 volt battery out and put a 6 volt back in it just to make the tractor more original. This tractor won't be used in the winter and the 6 volt starts it just fine when the weather is warm. Ironically, the charging system wasn't working when I bought it, the generator isn't the original one anyway, but it shouldn't take too much to get it working back at 6 volts. BTW, I'm looking for a 6 bolt battery that has posts on both sides, like the one shown. Anybody know of a battery manufacturer that has posts on the same side, instead of opposite corners? To the OP's original question, 8 volts makes it start easier when the weather is cold, but the old mechanical regulator has to be turned up. Also, it's not too easy to find an 8 volt battery charger these days.

As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
