Quote: CVPost-old (quoted from post at 19:48:16 12/17/21) The one I had at first was the Honda CL50 as in what they called the scrambler. It was a 1967. In 1967 Honda made 3 different 50s. The dream, the CB and the CL. The dream was a step threw frame with auto clutch and 3 speeds. The CB was the road bike with low pipe and the CL on/off road with a high pipe. I wore that 50 out and traded it in for a Honda CB90 which I almost got killed on when a guy made a left turn in front of me in a 1965 Chevy Bel-air. It totaled that 90 but it also totaled his car. Broke my right arm and put a scare on my face but I walked away from the wreck. Next bike I got was a Honda CB160
I had a similar Honda of 55cc's with a step through frame. Had to rear sprockets- one little one for highway use and one big one for off road. I tried both and settled on the big one. Max speed was 28mph, 1st gear was a crawl even wide open. More than fast enough to take me back into beaver flows and mountain cricks for trout fishing! The old girl caught fire one day and that was the end of that. I saw a similar model for sale locally recently and the guy wanted $1800.00!!! I paid $50.00 for mine and had to clean my parents bar every morning all summer to earn the $$$. To this day an ashtray or the smell of stale beer turns my stomach!
FWIW- the lowest price I remember paying myself was about $.23 cents a gallon. That would have been 1970-71. I recall when the price jumped to something like 33 or 35 cents people were simply outraged!!!

Today's Featured Article - A Question for Dads This recent topic from the Tractor Talk discussion board is being highlighted because it is an awesome display of the caliber of individuals that have made this site their own. The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
