You'll need a milli amp meter and a jumper wire.
Be sure everything is off, doors closed, key removed. If there is an under-hood light, disable it.
Remove the negative battery cable. Connect the cable back to the battery with the jumper wire, wait about 5 minutes or so.
Connect the milli amp meter leads between the battery and the removed cable, just like the jumper. Remove the jumper WITHOUT BREAKING THE CONNECTION through the amp meter. If connection is broken or even if you think it may have broken, replace the jumper and let it sit another 5 minutes. Be sure the meter is set correctly, and the leads are in the proper configuration. You can't make adjustments once the test is underway.
Take the amp reading. 20 milliamps is great, up to 100 is not that great but acceptable. Over that, there is a problem.
