If that is a wood stave silo, it probably was put up in the 1930's as around here in NE IA, cement stave construction was standard.
I live on an old farmstead acerage where the wood stave silo was taken apart and a wagon shed constructed out of the staves. Unpainted, still serviceable. Those staves had a really good preservative soaking, it appears. The silo foundation is still apparent in the dead grass ring!
New Hampton, Iowa had a silo company that sold far and wide, using two rows of alternating white painted and unpainted staves at the top, with or without a galvanized dome-shaped roof. Dad put one up in 1947. I remember well working with gas-lantern light breaking and picking up limestone in the last few inches of the foundation ring the night before the builders arrived. Leo
