Geee , what is wrong with the old fashioned ATLAS . I have one of them and it does not need a power cord or batterys to use it . In my 60 years of driving big and small it has taken me many place along with the SCALES and low underpasses book . While hauling the big ugly stuff The states usually gave you routings . BUT sometimes the states would screw up big time . Pa sent me to a 10 ton road that to start off with got me hug up on a hill and lets not for get that oh a ten ton road with like six ten ton bridges and i am only 168000 Lbs , The W. Va sent me to a 14 foot under pass while i am 14 foot 5 inches tall , N.C sent me to a 12 foot wide lane restriction on a bridge when i was eleven foot eleven and three quarters wide And every one of them routes were done on the COMPUTER. Ohio sends me on a grand tour of the northern half of the state to just cross 2/3rds of the state that took a day and a half to do when had they let me run it the way we asked i could have been across the state in 3 and 1/2 hours BUT NO you are going to do it this way and the vary next load that was Bigger heavier and just as wide they ran me the way i wanted to go the first time . The first time i was going out to see and old friend in Mo. i sat down and played the Goggel thing and there way of getting there and just like the Ohio load it was going to be a sight seeing trip of 796. what ever miles and almost 16 hours Open atlas look at point A look at Point B draw line read routes write down route numbers , get in truck and head west .627.4 miles later and a little over 11 hours i am in her drive. Only screw up was going thru Peoria , found better route coming home cut 7 miles off and .hour and a half off the drive.
