Back when we converted a couple of the tractors over to alternators they were having trouble with the one wires so we just used the 3 wire alternators and they charge right from the git go. We have a single switch for the MD and the rest all work through the key switch. H even works through the ignition switch so no forgetting and charge as soon as they start. Only one that has a problem is the 674 with the original painted red alternator it has to be run up to about 2200 to go to charging with the factory set up. I have cleaned the connections a few times and looked for a bad connection have not found any yet. I'm thinking of trying thr full ffield for an instant to see if it would charge that way. Nobody around here will open it up to charge then complain about the battery being dead. I have told them they need to open it up to charge.
