all i know is the rod brg. right over the pan heater went . he used to keep it plugged in day and night. i dont know the wattage of heater either. but i know them heaters will boil the oil and if you have a rod brg. sitting right above that oil in the brg will be gone also. not saying this happens at one or two plug ins but over time. each time starting with a dry brg in the winter. it was that 855 cummins in the 800 versatile. so he found a truck engine to put in it . had to change the injection pumps to keep tractor one. his neighbor did this for him and it took forever, not the speediest guy. i have an oil heater on my 560 and only let it be plugged in for a few hrs. you can feel the bottom of the pan and its hot. i have started it in -30 and it starts like summer time. with the block heater of course, and 15-40 oil. just saying dont keep them heaters going steady. warm oil is definitly a good thing, just use sense. in the 60's i remember always getting the hot coals and ashes from the wood stove to put under the 56 pontiac to start it. had no power at that time. also did the same with the w6 tractor ,.. warm the oil pan with coals and then i had to crank it to start it at -10 f lots of times like when i was 12 years old. also had a block of wood to block the clutch when cranking it. then once running had to ease the clutch out slowly due to the cold gear oil wanted to stal the tractor. also had to let it idle to warm the oil so could shift it ,.. the gear shift would be totally stuck from the thick oil and just barley move it into gear.
