Was over 20 years ago I asked DAD if he had any secrets about putting chains on my #1 Snow Mover, the FARMALL SUPER H. His responce, Don't take them off! The SH only has 12.4x38 tires, but the chains are made from about 3 sets of chains for dualed-up 10.00x20 truck tires, a cross chain every other link, each chain weighs around 200#, I can't lift them, I tie them to the wheel/tire and spin the tire. Last time I mounted them only took me a half hour per chain. They bolt together with a small shackle. I've had Dad's M here for 15 years, had his chains on it one year. It's amazing how helpless a tractor without chains is on snow & ice. My driveway and parking area is concrete and slopes uphill to the road. Most times my Wife's all wheel drive car gets to the road, as does my 4wd pickup. A tractor without chains WILL NOT make it.

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
