them small 6 bangers are a buggar to start when sitting just like in the versatile 400 swathers. you need a good strong battery and they take quite a bit of choke . once they fire i push the choke in 1/2 way and do it like that. and ony 1/2 throttle then when it fires lots of times you got to keep working the choke to get it going. i would conferm correct timing to the spec on the valve cover. that moving the distributor here to there is not the answer. and if that dont work give it a shot of starting fluid.
