3 point hitches were and still are optional equipment on JD and most other tractors. Less than one half of the 20 and 30 series 2cyl tractors left the factory with them. the patten problem was overcome by the time the 20 series came out. also a good location for the third link, which incorperated a load and depth control was added to the 20series and newer2cyls. Simply the 3pt didn't get sold for nearly every tractor. Even many of the new generation did'nt leave the factory with 3pts. the last new tractor I ordered was a 4455 and had to specify a 3 point hitch and that didn't include a quik hitch. I'll bet the current production still has the 3pt option.
