Read an article several years back. After WW2, there was a growing demand for bigger tractors and manufacturers were not keeping up. One trick was to join two tractors head to toe and operate from one seat. There was apparently a lot of surplus Wisconsin V-4 air cooled engines available. Some owners would bolt a Wisconsin on rails out front of their tractor and run a belt to the side PTO pulley to feed the power into the transmission. The other was to make a bracket, mount it at the rear of the tractor, and back feed power into the rear PTO shaft. Creative engineering at its finest !
