1979 Olds delta 88 with a Pontiac 301 V8 Gm friendly engine program. I am not gonna bore ya with it taking several weeks to rebuild the differential a GM 7.5 that's rare as hens teeth. It all started with a wheel leaking something the leak was from the axle seal. In the past they put those repair bearings that are off set so you can reuse the worn axles. I have never had luck out of them one always leaked.
It had a loud tap in the engine it just had a new crankshaft installed. Yep looks like the pan and timing cover have been off. I could not tell were the tap was coming from it was louder from underneath. I adjusted the valves none were where the tap was coming from. I was about to give up and thought what a nice red Distributor cap I wonder if it has a matching red Rotor button. Well lets confirm dat. The cap has 4 latches all spring loaded when I turned the 3rd one out the cap jumped off to the side. They did not seat the cap it was out of wack-o... The rotor was hitting the cap...
