When I worked for a service station during and right after high school,I remember the owner tossing people out that wanted to bring in their own oil and filters. After I paid attention a little bit,I realized he was tossing out the people that wanted to bring in their dime store oil and filters. We did have quite a few customers that used only certain oils and filters. If we carried it they would have been buying it from us.Some Mercedes owners only used what we didn't carry, but they were willing to pay. Also,at that time people were going crazy over Pennzoil, with Z-7.I don't know what it really was,but the believers acted like they had found the holy grail. Also willing to pay.We handled Rotella, and Delo 400,so we had a lot of customers just because of that.
