Instead of coming directly off the battery, pick up the power at the starter solenoid, or the amp meter. Connecting directly to the battery puts the small wire too close to the corrosive conditions of the battery.
The load will only be 5 amps, so about any switch will do. If this is an open cab, it will need to be weather and dust resistant, think a marine switch with a rubber boot.
Fuse the circuit to the wire size. 14 gauge is good for 15 amps. Solder and shrink tube all connections. Use fine stranded, low voltage automotive wire, not solid or THHN building wire. Secure everything away from snags, pinch points, and heat. Use metal straps, they are more permanent than plastic or zip ties. Hiding the wire in split plastic harness loom gives a professional look and protects the wire..
